Carl-Edvard Sturkell 1924-2022

Erik’s father Carl-Edvard Sturkell peacefully passed away on December 8 in the afternoon at Dufvegården in Katrineholm. He was born on 2 November 1924 in Katrineholm and thus recently reached the honourable age of 98. Carl-Edvard always said he had no ambition to become 100 and with the current deterioration of health, we are glad he had a peaceful passing. The caretakers at Dufvegården has taken good care of him these last couple of months. More information regarding the funeral ceremony will come later. The funeral will for certain take place in Katrineholm and most likely in mid January.

Photo above is from Julita Gård in Sörmland, where Carl-Edvard’s grandfather Edvard Tillander served as the estate manager (förvalter). On the bench is Card-Edvard to the left, Erik in the middle, and Philippa Batten to the right, Erik’s biological half-sister from Australia. It was Carl-Edvard who established the contact to the family in Australia and invited all of us to Julita Gård back in 2019. He was very generous and with a warm heart for family and friends.
