IKKA news in Sermitsiaq
UPDATE! A total of five articles have been published in Sermitsiaq over six weeks in May-June. The pdf of those articles can be found here in Danish and Greenlandic:
Greenland newspaper ‘Sermitsiaq‘ is planning to run a series of articles about the multidisciplinary research activities carried out by the IKKA project, based on interviews of myself, geologist Gabrielle Stockmann and microbiologist Mariane Schmidt Thøgersen. The first two articles were published in this weekend’s printed version of Sermitsiaq; one about our upcoming fieldwork in Ikka Fjord in July 2022 and related laboratory experiments and our results so far, and the second about the upcoming Terra X documentary on the German ZDF channel. A film crew, Claudia Ruby and Steffen Bohn, and their two divers, Uli Kunz and Florian Huber joined us on the fieldwork in Ikka Fjord last summer – in pouring rain most of the time. Uli and Florian stayed with us during the whole period of fieldwork to assist with the research that required diving, and to complement their photo shooting of the magnificent Ikka columns in the inner part of Ikka Fjord. Here below is a new selection of Uli Kunz’ photos of the submarine Ikka column garden. Featured photo above is also taken by Uli Kunz, SUBMARIS.
Thanks to journalist Poul Krarup at Sermitsiaq for showing this interest in the IKKA project, and to all our colleagues and collaborators in Greenland and abroad!
