Jörfi 3 years

Our young Dutch ‘girl’ just turned 3 years on one of the warmest and sunniest days so far. We celebrated it with a visit by Maria and dog friend Lowe in the garden. It’s been kind of a dramatic year for Jörfi as we found out she had the highest degree of dysplasia on her left elbow (ED 3). She has never showed any sign of pain or been limping, so the result came as a huge surprise to us. We had extra X-ray photos made and a specialist evaluated the injury based on those photos. The recommendation was to avoid surgery but give her supplements and keep her in shape. Our aim is simply to give her as good a dog life as possible under the circumstances. Another problem arose when she developed anxiety after the very stressful experience of the X-ray procedure at the animal hospital. We had to give her medicine and move her to Denmark for a period to completely change the environment. Luckily, that worked well. Finally, she is also suffering since puppy age from chronic stomach inflammation (IBD), which means she is on a special low fat / low protein diet and need food on very regular intervals. When not suffering from stomach pain, she is a very happy and playful dog, which we are of course most grateful for. All good moments are treasured!
