Nya Älvsborgs Fästning

Motivated by friends visiting from Denmark, we used a glorious sunny Sunday to visit Nya Älvsborgs Färstning – A Swedish fortress to keep the mean Danes from attacking Gothenburg. My ‘old’ sled dog friends Kjeld and Charlotte Baagø stopped by in Gothenburg for a visit over the weekend and clearly brought the sun with them. After endless rain, the sun was shining more or less constantly from the moment they arrived to they left. We know each other back from the time we both had Siberian Husky kennels. They now have two dogs of the breeds Schnauzer and Kromfohrländer, respectively, whereas we have our Smooth Collies. My first Smooth Collie, Yuki was bought from Kjeld and Charlotte back in 2006. Luckily, all four dogs went along really well and were happy to join us on the excursion to Nya Älvsborgs Färstning (see link here). It took 40 minutes by ferry, St. Erik, to the island, and then we had a little more than an hour to visit the fortress till the ferry picked us up again. A very nice day, and fantastic weather that allowed us to enjoy our dinner outside in the garden.
