Reykjavík in December ’24
Erik and I went on a short trip to Reykjavík just to check up on our apartment and our car, and getting the chance to meet up with friends in Iceland. The volcanic eruption on the Reykjanes was still ongoing on our arrival and could be clearly seen from the plane and from the flybys on the tour to Reykjavík. From the airplane it looked like the power plant at Svartsengi was surrounded by walls of lava. Also a bit worrying was that the eruption is so close to the densely populated parts of Iceland and to the main road between Keflavík Airport and the capital Reykjavík – although the people we talked to in Iceland didn’t seem to worry much. While in Iceland, Erik had his fifth and final NordVulk 50 years published in Icelandic together with co-authors Kristján Jónasson and Anders Schomacker. It was Kristján who translated the original text in Swedish into Icelandic, hereby ensuring the article is published in Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Finnish, and now Icelandic:
