Smögen Whisky distillery

A couple, Pär Caldenby and wife, are living in the same neighbourhood Landala Egnahem as us and are the lucky owners of the prestigious and award-winning Swedish whisky distillery called ‘Smögen’ – read more here: https://smogenwhisky.se and https://www.whisky.nu/smogen-whisky/. As we often meet them on our dog walks, they recently informed us that they would open the distillery for guided tours and tasting of their whiskies. Both Erik and I are rather enthusiastic about whisky and immediately decided that we would meet up for their very first guided tour on the 9th of July. By chance, one of our friends and a fellow geologist, Thomas Eliasson lives only 6 km from the distillery. Thus, we could combine our whisky tour with a coffee visit at the beautiful Eliasson estate. What was even more beneficial for our dogs was Thomas babysitting them, while we went on the whisky tour. It was way too warm to have them in the car that day. Upon our return to the Eliasson house, Thomas suggested going on a dog walk along Stensjö. Oh my gosh, this was Swedish nature exactly as you imagine it from tourist brochures, so extremely beautiful. Thanks to Thomas and the family Caldenby for this lovely day, presenting the best of Sweden!
