Tour de Denmark
Erik and I had a week of vacation in Denmark, where we went around doing a bit of tourism and visiting places we had wished to see for a long time. On the first day, we went with my mother to Tivoli in Copenhagen. Each year there is the ‘Greenland in Tivoli’ event where musicians, artists, and companies are present with booths selling and marketing products of Greenland. You almost always run into someone you know with relation to Greenland, and this year was no exception. Some of my old sled dog friends, Mai and Jes, owners of Greenland sled dogs were present at a booth selling art. We bought a nice present for my mother – for her 80th birthday earlier in the year. I got myself a nice sweater of Greenlandic design as variation to my Icelandic sweaters. The following day we went to Sagnlejret Lejre, where a replica of the old King’s hall of Viking Age has been erected. Really remarkable and impressive. You immediately felt at home :-). Finally, we went to Møns Klint to see the Cretaceous chalk cliffs of similar age to the White Cliffs of Dover. Loads of tourists everywhere so we decided to keep the visit short and visit the Geocenter Møn museum another time.
