Danish CCUS summit 2026
Erik Trampe and I took part in the Danish CCUS summit 2026 in Copenhagen where we got the chance to present our Ikkaton INNO-CCUS project. Erik gave a talk while I presented a poster. This is a meeting held every second year presenting an overview of all the CCS, CDR, and CCU projects in Denmark. The goal is that this should be an increasing number of projects, which was also the case here. However, the type and size of projects have changed in the past two years into a higher number of smaller projects being launched. The bottleneck in launching new projects apparently isn’t lack of innovative ideas but more the case of struggling to make them operational, which again dates back to problems with funding and perhaps paperwork (the legal jungle of laws and regulations is quite overwhelming). That is at least something we have experienced on the Ikkaton project, the work load applying for permits whether it’s for building the facility or handling waste water. We were grateful for being contacted at the end of the summit by a working group across the universities and institutions, where the goal is to help each other on the legal framework and in sharing knowledge.
