Funding from Aage V Jensen

Thanks to new funding from the Aage V. Jensens Fond in Denmark, we are now able to invite our two German divers, Uli Kunz and Florian Huber to join us again on fieldwork in Ikka Fjord, SW Greenland. They were part of a film crew from Gruppe 5 / Terra X from German TV channel ZDF who joined us on fieldwork in 2021. Here we saw the amazing photo and video material they produced, both above and under water amongst the ikaite columns of Ikka Fjord (see photo above by Uli Kunz, 2021). Thus, we are extremely happy to have them onboard the IKKA project again! This year, the focus is on biology and the changes in biodiversity on the ikaite columns. Our results so far point to a decrease in almost all species inhabiting the columns on the outside, except for sea urchins. With Uli and Florian’s help we hope to get the best possible photo documentation of the life, that’s still there. Our sincerest thanks to Aage V. Jensens Fond for once again funding our IKKA project!
