Professor inauguration for Peter Stougaard
Last Friday was the official day of Professor inauguration for Peter Stougaard and other newly-appointed professors at Aarhus University, Risø. Peter is a microbiologist working on the IKKA project and been leading several expeditions to Ikka Fjord in Greenland since 2007. Now appointed Professor in Molecular Environmental Microbiology at the Department of Environmental Science, Aarhus University – link to the official inauguration page at AU can be found here. Everything had been postponed because of the pandemic including this inauguration ceremony. Thus, Peter has already been professor for some time, but here was finally a chance to celebrate him. His inauguration lecture was entitled ‘Cool Biotechnology’ or the longer version ‘Revealing the secrets of Arctic microorganisms: Cold-active enzymes and microorganisms for healthy food products and sustainable agriculture’, where he talked about the microbiology of the ikaite columns, and potato growth in South Greenland. Both very interesting topics and definitely ‘cool’! A big Hurrah and congrats to Peter, and we sincerely hope he is up for more IKKA research in Greenland.
