Skibene på Holmen
Erik and I drove all the way down from Gothenburg to Copenhagen to take part in a 3 hours guided tour at the maritime museum called ‘Skibene på Holmen´. This is a war time museum featuring some of the old Danish Navy vessels and a submarine. It was definitely worth the long drive. Very interesting to hear about the Cold War from a Danish perspective and to get an idea of what it was like to work onboard a Navy vessel and not least a claustrophobic submarine. I know for sure that I would never have qualified for working on a submarine. Our tour guides were one Historian from FOF, and one former Navy employee, who had actually worked onboard both Peder Skram, the Navy vessel, and Sælen, the submarine. If you have some time to spare in Copenhagen, don’t cheat yourself of visiting this highly interesting museum. More info can be found here: www.skibenepaaholmen.dk
