Welcome to Becky

We are really happy to say welcome to a new family member, namely Smooth Collie pup ‘Becky’. Like Jörfi, she is from the Netherlands and of the same bloodlines as Jörfi with some addition of American Collies on the father’s side. She is bred by Linda Buunk and you can find info about the litter on the Smooth Collie Database: https://www.smooth-collie.net/view_litter.php?id=7964. We are really grateful for being allowed to buy this golden lady! She is a very positive and social female, and gets along with Jörfi really well. She is bringing joy and energy to a household that has been very quiet since the loss of old Deli back in February. Jörfi has been quite depressed so we are relieved to see her play again.

As we had to wait for Becky’s rabies vaccination to be valid before we could export her, my mother and I decided to go to the Netherlands a week before and pick up Becky and take one week of vacation in NL. We rented a super nice forest cottage at Buitenland Gerner in Eastern Holland, where we were allowed to have dogs. It was such a beautiful area of the Netherlands, and a part of the country I have never seen before. Lots of old forests with high biodiversity and perfect for walking the dogs, in addition to cozy small villages. The closest town was Dalfsen but our preferred town was Ommen. We went there a couple of times for shopping and training Becky in car driving so she hopefully wouldn’t get car sick on the long drive back to Denmark. My aunt Helma and cousin Johan from the Stockmann family came to visit us for a day, which was really great. Helma brought my favourite Indonesian food from Amstelveen. Furthermore, relatives of my mother’s friend Dini came to visit us. Dini was supposed to join us on the trip to the Netherlands but had to cancel last minute. Nevertheless, Dini’s brother and wife still offered us accommodation on the first night. It was very generous of them to offer us shelter and food, and even take in a dog in their house (Jörfi). The car training with Becky was well spent and she didn’t say a sound or got car sick on the 10 hour drive back to Denmark. Erik came down from Sweden and we spent a couple of days in Denmark before taking the last leg back to Gothenburg. Again, Becky accepted all new things without any complaints. New people, new dogs, new places, new languages, ferries etc. – she has handled everything so well! Thanks to Linda Buunk for selling us this tough little lady 🙂
